Boating Fun.
Saturday up to Rochester for Fuel.
Sunday up the creek with all sorts of other boats big n small every single one minding their own business eating/drinking/sleeping off effects in a very silent dead calm way. Then along comes the POWERBOATER and SKIER. O joy for the next hour or two the constant wash and noise entertain the whole creek.Out of zillions of square miles of water they had to choose our bit.We leave to spend night at Rochester
Wife insists on going ashore to eat.Rains in buckets from restuarant door via dinghy to boat.We get soaked.Rain stops when we get to boat.I tell her it is poetic justice.
Monday. up to Maidstone a bit early as it turns out and we touch bottom a few times, as we go round corner there is monster boat in front. We have chat. The boat is a Mystere the first I have ever seen and contains 4 blokes from River Crouch out on a weeks jolly.
Leave lock a bit late so might be trouble getting back on berth and to make matters worse radio gives 22 knots wind at Sheerness so decide to abandon wife
and she goes ashore at Chatham.
Err sort of lumpy NE wind against ebb tide around Queenborough Spit and B****x no way can i get boat on berth unless I carry it.Back to Queenborough and manage to grab bouy.9.00 and pitch black.
4.30 Am.Climb over gate with outboard and wobble along jetty which is dancing about all over the place. Can see outline of boat across water but too dark to see waves.God I hope the outboard keeps going.
Manage to get oboard and dry out a bit.Watch small Sealine or something appear from Thames estuary and wonder what the hell is he doing out in this weather.
Much calmer around corner and first night trip in Swale and this boat.
Thank you everyone for those loverly loverly marker bouys.
Moor up get an hours kip.
Summon up courage to get wife out of bed to pick me up.
Just lets say the best boat in the known universe starts with the letter P
