Hi all
Just looking to see if anyone owns a boat in the northwest area (uk) that could let me know the next time there going out local and if I could jump on board for a little experience
Wether your going fishing or just streching your sea legs.
Im looking to do some courses but nothing will beat hands on practical.
Main things at the moment is launching, mooring and just general boating.
If any one could help out that would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Danny
Dont mind sharing fuel, bait, launch fees as Im a keen angler too.

I live in the NW, but have hardly boated there apart from the two trips to Glasson and a few to the IOM, Not forgetting umpteen to Ireland and one to Scotland. If you insist Knot End is probably the best place to launch. But driving south will be quicker than waiting for the tide, then all your going to see is mud banks and sand banks. Wales is better "Just". But try Cornwall, you will never want to boat round Lancashire again.

Thanks for replies. Hlb you got it spot on waitin for the tide can ruin agood day out lol. I was thinking more around north wales but dont mind really just looking for xp really
Thanks again
Danny

Say some good things about north wales and the ubiquitous menai mob will fall over themselves to oblige you. Apparently they aren't bothered about "sharing fuel, bait, launch fees etc" as long as you supply the booze for somethin they call a funbox.

Ahh- there could be a 'deal' here by there
Plumber is it, isn't it look you here
As blueglass said, we have a few boats about us in the Menai Crowd
We run a few ribs an stuff

Does the OP know how well, you are connected

With Kwaka as pilot, it really will be an experience too.

Steve (TSB240) seems to have taken to posting in scuttlebutt - I wondered if we had moved home, but he is a proper raggie after all, not a mobo with sticks like me.

dmh, I can recommend a saily day with Searush
I have had one
Dunno where the 'Rush' bit came in though:D

THAT, would have been "An Experience" for the Op

Yep, sure thing
Early part of the year and latterly
The part of the Menai Strait that is narrowest, between the two bridges and sometimes the more northern bit
If we have a distinct temperature change from the evening until the next dawn
Such is the configuration of the Strait (I could bore the Nation with that if I wanted too) we get this weird 'fog' which sits between the two bridges crossing the Menai
Obviously, it is the Place where Dragons are hatched
Mermaids Woo unsuspecting sailors
Sea Serpents gather for Water Eisteddfods
Bards gather for Poetic Excellence and the wails of distance Pipes are heard, plus the Plucking of delicate Harps
All this of course
Is wasted on English types and Saxons
Tiss the Delicate ears and senses of True Celts that really get The Message
Plus the way through The Swellies

Oh, I have heard the Siren's call,
and the roar of salt spray on sharp rocks.

Helmsman, turn not from your charted course
ere the wheel's turn will carry you across the Styx

and sure enough there's never a Rush on a saily boat
there's just plenty of time for all.

If I might just point out that the "northwest area (UK)" is quite a long way away from Cornwall and Wales. Maybe somewhere about Stornoway or Lochinver? Of course that might be all about to change after next year's referendum.......

Nah, you're thinking of Highlands & Islands, a completely different place to "the North West".

. Yep, from Preston it is 4.5 hours to Plymouth. From where you can sail any time and to mostly any place.

N Wales is about 1.5 hours. But then you are stuck, till the tide comes in.

Lancashire it mostly comes in. Once a month.
