I didn't think boating and gardening were a good mix. After all who has time in the summer weekends to be pulling out weeds. However last night there was Alan Titchmarsh in his new gardening series on BBC2, sitting in a deckchair reading Motor Boats Monthly!

The two do not go together but in the summer it needs doing so get it done midweek then there,s no falling out with SWMBO when you want to go down to the boat, last I heard old Titchy had a Grand Banks, house in Cowes somewhere and was falling out with his kids over who was going to use the place, all hearsay though, not actualy seen him there..

Now heres a good idea for alan and his crew, instead of doing someones garden he could come and do a full refit for nothing to a boat, perhaps we could start a waiting list for him!,

Re: Weeding

What a good Idea John. And charley Dimock doing the deck in a wet tee shirt!! Bloody hell should have thought of it before and got that changing room lot to do the upholstery.
Mind you they seem to make every thing out of MDF and some of the colours they use are a bit naff. No we need a new lot. Like some ex Princess fitters to come along and fit new chartplotters and bigger engines and refit everything front to back. I'll do the filming so they can save fortunes there and ToMo can be Director with LJS as Editor. All Marketed By Kim of course on MBY TV. A proper motor boat TV station. Program names would have to be changed a bit, but we could do a version of Dallas on Matt's new boat.
Some Mothers Do Have Em. On Barry's boat!!
Pauline could do the curling on Coronation Boat.
Then theres. News At High Tide.
Tales Of the River Bank. Would be a Sunday night epic. Easily replacing Heart Beat as number one favourite.
We'd replace the Oneadin Line with tales of the conflicts between Rag and stick boats and Stink boats. With of course the good guys winning every week but only after dastardly tricks done by the rag boats.
Now what else before we tell Kim to get started sharpish on the broadcasting thingy.

I'm pretty sure that if, in some fit of madness. I was to suggest to her in doors that we should stay at home for the weekend to do the gardening. She'd nail some sensative part of my anatomy to the front door as a warning to others, then bugger off down to the boat on her own.

Apart from the fact that I suffer from Hayfever the gardening is the responcibilty of the gardener I employ to do the job in order to give me more time on the boat.

What surprised me most, was it floated for about 1/2 an hour! Thought about buying three or four and using them as a tender!
