Hi I have a shetland 535 inland cruiser and need to find someone who can repair a window that has become pushed out. Am struggling to find a repairer or even where to look for one?
thanks Richard

I assume that your window is a fixed pane, mounted in a rubber channel. If so, it is not that difficult to fix yourself. If the channel has been damaged you can buy replacements from Wilks (www.wilks.co.uk). The channel is fitted to the grp cabin first. A cord is then inserted in the channel for the glass or other glazing material. This cord is then used to pull the outer lip of the channel over the edge of the glass. Finally a locking strip is inserted in another channel to prevent the glass from coming out. You need a simple tool to insert the locking strip but it is not expensive. Wilks used to give good instructions in their printed catalogues but I cannot see them on the web site.

Go and see Malcolm at the boat shop in ferry road , tell him Howard sent you and he will sort you out. They were putting a new window in a Viking just the other day.

Alternately give him a buzz on 0208 977 9978
