hi its me again...
i need a figure for what my boats worth for insurance purposes and i wouldnt mind a figure for what its worth if i decide to sell....i know you will say roughly what you paid for it but i paid next to nothing for it because it had mechanical problems which have been repaired...heres the info on her..

1989 invader197 sports cruiser
19ft length and 7ft8" beam
mercruiser 130 inboard engine with alpha1 leg.
in pretty good condition with all cushions etc recovered..
on a fletcher 2 wheeled trailer with new light board etc..

Your boats value isn't really the issue, more what its replacement cost would be, especially as I read your boat is fairly unique.
I would say that to replace your boat with a similar model and year would be £6000 to £9000 I'm thinking of a Shetland or Smaller Sealine, IMHO.

Whatever you'd like to think the boat is worth, chances are insurers will want a surveyors valuation before they will accept the risk at that value. You could gather advertisements for similar boats and try to establish a median value that way (which is what the surveyor will do anyway).

as much as that...i am surprised...

i like the idea of a 21ft dominator or sealine...very nice
i like the idea that i can take mine anywhere in the country by trailer and then spend time enjoying the sites...
 
GJW never asked for a valuation on my boat. They did'nt even want a survey. Its still on an agreed value tho! When I added a new aux outboard and informed them, they just added the cost of the outboard to the value.

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!
 
Yes, but did you insure for what you paid for it? I paid considerably less than market value for mine and obviousl;y wanted to insure at market value. HKJ would only insure for the purchase price plus any additions unless I got a surveyors valuation (not a full survey, just valuation). Once they had the valuation they were happy to insure for what I had claimed was market value.

Oh yes. Insured it for the market value, but as you, bought it at a much much lower price. Also in the value I gave GJW are the bits and pieces that invariably end up on the boat, all the leccy bits dinghy outboard etc. I asked them if they wanted a survey, but they said that the boat wasn't old enuough to warrant one!
