Boat Transport

Not used either, but have to agree with the above, I have used boatloads from Southampton who were very good, they might have a return load?

I am in the same position, looking for a boat to get delivered to Scotland from the South East in the next couple of weeks. If by some coincidence you are going the opposite way (unlikely but possible) then PM me and we can get a deal for two loads.

Other than that my best quote came from http://www.boattransporter.co.uk/ if that helps you.

Had our latest one moved by road in November 09. Ended up using a company called Etran Marine. They had a superb hydraulic lift and level trailer and did a first class job and were properly insured. They are based in Southampton. The best thing was they were by far the cheapest rate! I witnessed both the lift on, securing and the lift off. The driver was very good and took a lot trouble ensuring no damage from any straps etc. Website is www.transportboat.co.uk Maybe another option for you to consider.

I used SW transport to move a falcon 27 from Hythe to Plymouth last October.
They have a max of 5 tons or 33 feet, thats why their vehicle are not big trucks.
They were the cheapest for my boat move
They didn't mind a last minute change of move date when the broker suddenly told me my cheque would take over week to clear.

I did not see the boat being moved (as I had to work) so I cannot comment on that, but I can see no damage on the hull.

In the process of appointing a transport company to move our boat, down to the following two nearly the same price but feed back would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

Have a look at www.andersonsboattransport.com very efficient, although Cornwall based no problem to pick up my boat from Essex and deliver to the Algarve. I watched it on and off transport at both ends, driver was careful, courteous and totally unflappable. Boat arrive ahead of schedule (by one day). Price was very competitive, they handled all the necessary paperwork, escort through Spain and Portugal etc. I had the boat shrink wrapped prior to transport, great for keeping boat clean in transport.

Never used either personaly but had our last boat picked up by her new owner using boattransport, we watched it loaded and secured, all I can say is it was a very well organised setup, carefull driver who new his stuff when it comes to loading properly, by that I mean they checked the boat over before the lift, chocks were positioned carefully, tie down straps were shrouded in protective foam at the points they touched the boat etc.

Because it was an early lift they even arrived the previous day so not to keep the crane operator waiting, on talking with the crane operator he too said he was impressed with the outfit.

The boat was loaded bow forward unlike some who like to load cockpit forward, also the trailer had air-ride suspension which is suposed to take any shockloading during transport.
So if I ever needed a boat moving I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call.

I have used Terry Ollerton, Shoreline Transport twice in last 2 yrs. cannot recommend highly enough. On first job, the hoist in Shamrock Quay broke down resulting in him wasting a full day waiting> He came back 3 days later when hoist fixed and didnt charge extra despite losing a day's work,

Boat Transport Ltd

I've shipped literally 100's of boats with these chaps and always had exemplory service.

As a result of the business I have put their way (through the company I worked with) I got to know Geoff and Gill Houghton, the owners, very well and couldn't recommend them enough.

In the hundreds of boat moves they have done for me they have never once let me down, always been on time and really know their stuff.

Tom

PS: Can also recommend Terry Ollerton as in the post above. Also very professional service.
