Just sold my boat this weekend, been trying to get a cheap quote for transport from Lincolnshire to Kip marina (Scotland) because most of the companies are southern based its working out expensive, does anybody know of any companies north of the border?

sealand transport, used em to get mine from hamble to pwllheli, based up north, advertise in back of mags, highly recommended, turn key op, tell em to do it and pay them, job finished

John Shepherd (based in Kilmarnock) brought my boat from Lymington to Largs for a very reasonable price. They originally quoted a higher price, but then a lower one if I waited a few days as they had a lorry taking a boat from Kip to Solent area. In the event the trip down was cancelled but they still charged the lower price. Sorry I don't have the phone number but I think they advertise in Yachting Life and are in Yellow Pages.

Thanks for that, I've been trying to trace his number but with no joy at the moment, I'll have to pop into WH Smiths and have a quick flick through the mags (I'm too tight to buy them all)!

Yes I agree with Johna,I also used Beverley transport very professional outfit and will take care of your boat and offer a reasonable price,but you can sleep ok that the boat is in good hands.
Beware of cheap prices,do no use a truck with Hyab onboard crane,pulling the slings in to tight during lifting could damage the boat, use a proper hoist and slings.
My surveyor told me there are more boats damaged by cowboy transporters then anything else.

I can thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend Sealand boat transport, it is rare indeed these days to get such a prompt, very polite, extremely knowledgle, caring and, yes, reasonably priced service. It is not often that I feel I can recommend someone, so I am taking this opportunity to do so. I'm sure it will be the last time for a while judging by the rest of the shower in the marine trade that I am currently dealing with
