I have been boating for many years and I have never seen so much boat crime as in the last few weeks.

I am signed up for email alerts from stolenboats.org.uk and my email is going crazy! Getting emails ++++ from them. What the hells going on out there?

More importantly, what are we going to do about it? We cannot expect the police to deliver any crime prevention, they are seriously under resourced. I think us (boat owners) need to work somehow in partnership with marinas and harbour authorities to formulate some plan of action.

I would love to catch some little b@$tard in the act, what I would do to him is certainly not postable on here!

I have said it before but here goes................

We must teach them not to be naughty and provide them with other more demanding pastimes.

If you do catch one pass them on to me and I will take them for some Long distance swimming lessons....... 5 miles to start with should prevent them stealing boat gear again! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There is another possibility, with the recesion boats are harder to sell and also more likely to be the item that needs to be sold in a hurry.
Far be it from me to suggest that anyone could possibly think down these lines but why would proffesional theives up their activitys when the items they are stealing are going to be worth less.

Unless the local constabulary are doing a 2 for 1 on boat thieves

Neighbour over the road came over last week and said 2 scroats were looking around my boat, down at trailer level, probably trying to see if they could hook up their nice shiny black Range Rover to it. Just unbelievable; they parked outside my house and walked onto drive in middle of day.

5 miles is a bit harsh ! i think that a mile would be fine with their feet tied up that is /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No noticable increase round here, just the usual constant low level scumbaggery.
Own personal experience is that it is quieter now than 3/4 years ago!
