Just saw in my local rag that there seems to be a little illicit trade in mobos: stolen in Croatia (and some from Italy), refuelled in Montenegro or sometimes Greece, ending up in Black Sea (Odessa), Cyprus, Lebanon, bought by unscrupulous Russians. Two were recovered after the new owners ingenously sought insurance and gave out the engine numbers (one of these a Fairline).
The boats are stolen around dawn, blasted into international waters and then moved south. It is in Montenegro that they are camouflaged and given new papers.
Recent hits: a US-registered 18m Seajay, mid-April from Agana marina, Trogir.
