Hi Folks does anyone know if there was ever a boat test on my Princess 560 1993/94 The model strangley only ran for one year I think they then brought out the 60 but stand to be corrected. Its just that it would be interesting to read the hacks views at the time. Ta.....

There was a test of this boat but it was found to have a serious flaw. It had a propensity to lurch backwards and attack other vessels, biting large lumps out of their gunwales. It was therefore decided to cease their manufacture after only one year. A cure could have been found to this problem, had sufficient tuition been given to lowly instructor doing the test. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I guess you've seen the data sheet on the Princess sales web site, but it really tells you nothing you don't already know.

web page

It confirms my belief however that modern planing boats are just too damn heavy. Your 1993 57' Princess fly is 15.5 tonnes with engine options from 430 to 540 hp, my 2004 57' Princess fly is 26 tonnes with engines from 715 to 800 hp!!

Think you are right, there is a Princess 61 near me which I have skippered many times, has the 715 volvos good for about 25knts at best. Mine with the 485's can do 24-25 clean.

So 15.5 tons wonder how much me fuel weighs 1960 litres about 420 galls. With full tanks and 12 guests maybe 20 tons ??????????
