Boat sold where is the money?

Regarding the Dale Nelson I spent a good deal of time looking at the 45 footer presented at the show in 2009, it was THE boat as far as SWMBO was concerned, I think she used the word 'perfect'!, that description fits in pretty much with my thoughts as well. It would also be ideal for the Atlantic coast here, which can change from tranquil to challenging quickly. With the existing boat gone I am now in a position to consider a new 45, so we will see where we go from here, I may even describe the process from order to delivery on this forum, who knows?.

Have you considered looking at the Seaward 45? Seaward have been around a long time and make pilot boats as well as leisure craft.

Glad it worked out fine AW, phew

And yes, please post lots of pics of the new build from hull mould through fit out to launch. I am happy to admit that I'm such a boat geek I would love to follow such a story (despite being having my fill of such a story in recent times) and I know others on here would say the same. Best of luck with the project

Tune away now if detialed law is boring but with all the references to Peters etc it is important to understand that civil law countries have completely different legal systems from common law UK. All the talk of trusts and escrow that surrounds Peters and this topic generally has zero relevance in Portugal pretty much. When Deleted User writes "as soon as the buyers funds reach the broker's account, title to the boat has effectively transferred to the buyer" I'm afraid that just isn't correct. Title rarely passes in consequence of funds hitting an account; invariably some other action (such as delivery of a BoS or delivery of the physical boat, or delivery of a TR1 in the case of English land) is needed to transfer title. Now in Portugal they don't even recognise the concept of "title" the way we do in the UK. Tread carefully here. Of course 99.99999% of cases will be fine, but then you have the odd Peters now and again unfortunately

But brilliant news that OP has got the funds and now considering a Dale Nelson 45.... a boat of my dreams, please do consider posting a jfm style hull to delivery esk post, certain I don't think I would every have my fill of these sorts of week by week updates... :)

Another boat we went over at SIBS was the Aqua Star 48, again a go anywhere fabulous craft...

Reminds me of when I sold my Targa 30 with Power to Sail in Birdham, some Norwegian bloke had arrange to have it taken back on a truck that passing through having brought a boat over, if it missed the truck no sale, the broker, useless bloke, waited till the last minute to transfer the money to me and I had to get the boat into Birdham Pool to be lifted before 1430 else we'd miss the tide and I refused to move from my berth at Chichester until I had the money.

The money came through in the nick of time and I moved it over at 1415 but waited 20mins before phoning the broker.

Hmmm. Your intentiosn were probably good but that is not fair play on mr Norway. Point is, the buyer pays the guy you tell him to pay, namely the broker, who is your agent. For you then not to hand over boat to buyer becuase of a debate between you and your own agent is seriously bad form. Relations between seller and seller's agent are no concern of buyer nor should they be
