Hello people!

Just looking for some advise.

I am looking to get a bigger boat, its between a 17ft Wilson Flyer and an 18ft Raider Fisherman. This is my problem:

I currently have a 15ft Rib on trailer on my drive (which I will be selling) this fits on my drive nicely, my drive is 20ft.

The Raider Fisherman total length on trailer is 23ft, the Wilson Flyer probably similar, so my conundrum is how to fit 23ft onto a 20ft space?

It's probably not a good idea to have the trailer tongue overlapping the pavement, its a quiet street, but still not a good idea.

One of my thoughts, although I've not explored this yet, was to possibly cut the trailer tongue off, thus fitting on the drive, and rigging a way to re-secure this with multiple bolts when I need to pull the boat.

Any ideas from people would be appreciated!

Andy

You can get trailers with folding or bolt on tongues, no idea if they have a lower load limit than a fixed tongue trailer, but it might be worth investigating

I just searched for folding tongues, previously I had been searching for ways to remove and refit, but I found this guide to how to modify the tongue into a folding one, this could actually give me the extra space I need:
