Does anyone know of a boat simulator that would run on my PC?

I can't find one anywhere on the Internet.
Don't you think this would be a good programme for Microsoft to make afterall they do make Flight Sims/Train Sims/Car Sims/Golf Sims which are things that people like to do,,,,,but people also like boats!

I have seen one advertised during the last year. Will post it on forum when I find it.

Its a nuch cheaper way of boating. However, to date the only way is based on shafts with props, I need one for jets :)

Buy a rocking chair and a sun lamp. Place them within reach of the booze cupboard. Sit in chair turn on lamp and pour large G&T.

Re: Boatomatic!

I am pleased to announce the launch of “Boatomatic” , a new software system that simulates the true feeling of boating. Choose your craft from a wide selection - underpowered 80-year old duff-yet nicely-painted rubber-band powered riverboat, four-storey Carver with no bow thruster, outdrive Sealine with one engine gone, or more challenging options which include the (claimed maximum) 110 footer going into Port Solent. You can even try dragging a 40 foot flybridge into hamble point marina using the dinghy!

Close-quarter manoevres: Full multi-media support provides a background of tittering, laughter and occassionals five-blasts on the horn, and authentic crunching noises if you or your crew should get it wrong. With the optional microphone adapter you can respond to these. Close-quarter manoevering prepares you for a variety of more difficult situation such as picking up a mooring line in force 10 cross-wind WITHOUT losing your crew from the foredeck.

Additonal features of Boatomatic include long periods where nothing happens even though you have pressed the correct buttons, and other times where lots of things happen even though you pressed no buttons at all. At any time, you have to be ready for the “mad visitor” who turns up and whacks into you without warning!

Boatomatic costs £100grand, and 5 grand a year (but there’ll probably be other costs as well, and it’ll break your computer, and there is support, but not at weekends)

Re: another go

Absolutely brilliant. See what speed you can get up to when you gybe. I'll have to try that next time I'm out in F7.

Try an internet (Google) search for Chapman's Hands-on Powerboating. A brilliant program that includes a Docking Simulator, Heavy Seas sim, Inlet Running sim (the US version of crossing a bar (not in the pub!!!!!!); and a Piloting Excersise.

Chapman's Hands-on Powerboating is currently out of print. You may find a copy in some odd place. As it also includes the full text to Chapmans Piloting Guide, it will probably be reprinted at some time.
