LJS is a bit out of date with info on parking at Hythe I'm afraid, it's not free anymore! But still a good alternative to park and ride though, we will be there tomorrow, ferry's from Hythe are 10 minutes to and 20 mins past the hour. Will be getting the 9.20 ferry across, if you're around we can give you a pass to put in your car to park in the marina car park ( about 3 minutes walk from ferry).

Thanks for the offer but we are going Sunday. Still think I'll try Hythe and pay cos its gotta be better than park and ride!
