Boat Show this Saturday

We had a good day out - went there with some neighbours and friends from GYC. We had a defined plan of what we were going to do/see, so my views are probably a bit narrow!

The Inland Waterways contribution was poor - no separate area and only a handful of boats. The chandlery was poor, unless you want to buy a new VHF or chart platter - plenty of those for sale!

We didn't look too much at the bigger motorboats, apart from a rather large grey one called HMS Exeter (which was superb and worth the price of the admission on its own). I also managed to get a yachtie friend onto the Sunseeker stand, which was entertaining.

What impressed? Well, we are likely to move to an Antaris 720 at some point and had sufficient conversations to discount the larger craft. Had a poke around the Viking Seamaster 27 which had a lovely spacious feel and neat helm, but seemed a bit "MFI" compared to the Antaris.

Was most amused to be told that the wives couldn't go onto the bow decks due to health and safety.

There was a nice buzz in the air and it wasn't too overcrowded, without the empty feel that EC had.

I suppose the best measure of the day is that we got there at noon, left at six, and only had three pints... so it must have kept our attention!
