For a few years, I've been paying over the odds for Preview Day tickets at LIBS and SIBS in the hope of avoiding the crowds but I'm now getting the impression that Preview Day is more crowded than other days, particularly midweek days
Anyone else think this is correct and which days do peeps think will be the least busy at the forthcoming LIBS?

preview day (if it's also press day?) is when all the stuff happens. I went once and quite good - but mainly cos i tramped around after tom, then mby editor, who had external support and schedule and lots of phone calls telling him where to go. So it starts at the sealine stand with champagne and then instead of any close looking at sealines - not time!- you dump the empty glases and charge over somewhere else to another speech and more champagne and then etc etc...

Its generally Quieter, The staffon the stands are fresh, enthusiastic and pleased to see you , they can even be helpfill early on.

If you are intending to buy an expensive bit of kit or a boat i would reccomend it , if not mid week the following week.

If you want the place to yourself go to a boat stand at 9pm on the thursday late opening night.

Quite correct. The first Monday is the quietest, then it steadily builds toward the last weekend. In fact by about Wednesday/Thursday it's almost as busy as preview day. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Boat Show Preview Day - forget it

I'm with tcm on this.

I used to do the preview days too as I thought less busy.

Sure there is lots to eat and drink on the stands - but frankly that is not the point of attending. I'm also not a cleb spotter either so I walk past these peeps and Mrs mjf says "did you see who that was?" all day - I miss the lot of them.

This year I went to SIBS on Monday (as press day conflicted with Goodwood Revival). What a joy! Most of the day I was the only person on whatever builders stand that I was visiting - you could move about dead easy and staff on stands / chandlers etc happy to help you.

So, Mondays for me in future - there are always some nice "inner sanctum"places to go for the champoo if in need
