This is the first time that our boat is going to be in Gouvia for the coming season, so looking for some recommendations for local marine services, if finances allow we are also looking at replacing upholstery and some canvas work. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Keith Fisher 0030 693 683 3642 general maintenance work, usually pretty good. He knows a Dutch electrician - Jon.
There is a sail and cover maker in the village Kontokali and three chandlers, one in the mariner and two in the village, I think the village ones are better.

Had canvas work and upholstery done by Skiasi just outside the back gate of the marina. Turn right as you go out by the church and it is on the left.

I've just had a really nice spray hood made by DL Sails based just outside the Marina entrance. Recommended for canvas work.

Beware that while some of the local workforce at Gouvia are very good, some are really awful, among the worst I've encountered anywhere. A problem is that the large charter fleets always seem to take priority. Don't employ anyone without first getting a recommendation about their reliability from someone who has used them recently.

I can also, fully recommend Keith Fisher for Mechanical work, and he hooks up with Dutch Jon for the Electrical/Electronic stuff.
I've always used the sail makers, next door to Force 5. Bit expensive but superb quality. Here's their FB Page:

Regards,

We used Argyris ( ask at the office where you can contact him) as a fixer and he found whatever services we required usually fairly quickly and efficiently (by Greek standards) He does guardienage for very reasonable rates also, for when you are away from the boat.

We use Keith for engine work and the girls just along from DL sails across from the Kiosk for canvas work.
There is about to be a big push and only registered companies are going to be allowed on the marina to work so alot of the homers will be stopped and people banned. They are going to be putting in a swipe card system and turning the carpark at the entrance into a visitors car park so only boat owners and registered tradesmen can acceess by vehicle.

Just be aware at this time of year they are all swamped with work. Best to book early.
