Would appreciate some local advice please.....

We're looking at renting a boat for a week April/May time in Southern Ireland and would really appreciate some advice of where to rent from to see the best of the country and particularly to be able to pick our way from nice stopping point with good food and drink to good stopping point. We're experienced boaters (both river and sea) so happy to brave locks etc.

Thanks to anyone who can help

If you're looking for a one way trip you will have to limit your rental options to le boat or carrick craft with a trip from Carrick to Portumna or thereabouts. If you want the nicest rental craft on the Shannon I would recommend Silverline Cruisers who have a very modern fleet of Haines boats. They are based in banagher which means you are probably best sticking about the south Shannon for a one week trip.

We stayed overnight in Portumna when touring Ireland on the motorcycles, a quaint little place, very welcoming locals and some great eateries.

Cheers
