Boat purchase from the USA.

I know Pete. When I'm on my American built old boat - I don't sleep for the whole fortnight for fear of any or all of the above happening.
I heard a rumour that some USA built boats have even completed the Sydney Hobart and Trans Pac Races - but that can't be true.

My boat bought in the uk, based in the uk and sailed in and around the uk has no CE plate nor any RCD ticket, but it has stayed afloat since 1986, should I be getting rid of it to by a newer, substantially less well built model??

I'll be having nightmares next - my boat hasnt got CE plate or RCD ticket either. Its been afloat since 1982 but it must be unsafe and to think I sailed all around Ireland and just back from a cruise taking in IOM Lake District Scotland and Ireland . It brings me out in a cold sweat to think of the risks I have been taking.

You've got a US version of a Westerly though, not a light weight see the sun thru the hull type, so your in with a chance of survival. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
