Imagine two identical motor boats with identical specifications and identical engine hours and identical usage patterns...

One boat is 18 months old the other 30 months old. Do they differ in price and if so, by what percentage?

I shall reveal all as some answers roll in /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

well, depends on what the seller wants to sell for, surely. One might be private, the other brokerage. Location.. too many variables, but I guess you might expect the older one to be 5-10pct less. But neednt be.

It is frequently the case for boats to have the same asking price even if build dates are a couple of years different.
A younger/nicer boat in the wrong place/area may only command the same price as an older boat in a area where that particular style of boat is much sought after.
One seller may have a largish amount of finance on his boat and this may dictate asking price as opposed to a seller who originally paid cash on his purchase.
Also if trading up there is a desperate need to get max money from existing boat whereas if bailing out of boaty world praps prepared take half decent price and run.

Whether they do differ in price and whether they should are 2 different things. Of course they should and as one is 1 yr older than the other, lets say 5% for 1yr's worth of inflation
But as already mentioned other factors apply like desperation of owner to sell, location and whether its a private sale or a dealer sale with warranty and some consumer protection
