I've just visited a site concerned with boat design (amongst other things), and I was somewhat bemused at some of the language being used there:
people "feasting their eyes" on a particular catalogue, "lusting" and "drooling" over a set of study plans.

Jeez - they're boats, for goodness-sakes. Agreed, some boats are better on the eye than others, and some are downright ugly ... but "drooling" ?

Is this some kind of sexual displacement thing ?

In the process of getting another boat I hope  only yesterday my partner I comment your not looking at your porn again

She meant the pictures of the boat we have under offer :p

If you do not walk round marinas and find a boat that catches your eye, are you a sailor?

boat words

boats are usually regarded as being female

they have curves - somethimes nice - sometimes less attractive

they give pleasure

to look at, to feel and to spend time with them

the similarities are many

the language used is wonderful

I myself would be slightly offended if people started sending me pictures of women

but pictures of boats are another matter

I am also becoming aware of the similarities between my own website and those on offer from some of the on-line pornographers

the functionality of the website is very similar

free sample videos followed by subscriptions for downloading

the shots sometimes linger longer on boats and natical anatomy than than is strictly necessary

the film caters to a 'specialist' market

people download the films and squirrel them away on their hard disks

they rewind and re-watch the films over and over again

I now find myself sending out DVDs in plain brown jiffy bags

I am thinking that it is time to change subject matter for my filming activities as the recession and petrol prices start to bite at KTL and start looking for a wider demographic

I have the skills, I have the distribution systems pretty well worked out

Dylan

Ps

for those curious about the use of hyperbole regarding boats should take themselves to the wooden boat forum or sailing anachy and there threy will find the most outragous use of English

Over the past year I have personally carressed every part of mine .... with various grit sandpaper, degreaser and a paint brush.
