Any body know if there are any good web site for checking out boat names, or more specifically checking a name isn't in use on a registered boat? I have the one that shows boats registered for a radio licence. Ta very much.

Don't know of a website but if you phone the MCA Part I Registry on 029 2044 8800 they will tell you if the name is available and what options are open to you.

If you just wish to Register on Part III it does not matter, call her what you wish.

If the name is already taken by a pt1 reg boat, they usually suggest adding "of XXXXX" to make it unique.

When registering "Fari" it was suggested that different spellings should be submitted incase the first choice was taken.

Just as a thought Google the name, straight just to check my parents once bought a boat with a pretty Spanish name.

If you Googled it the name had been used heavily by a lady of disrepute. They never changed the name but its a check I would always do...
