Could anyone recommend a good book about basic boat electrics and how to wire things up?

Or potentially a book about general boat maintenance suitable for a new boater.
Something like a 'Reader Digest Complete DIY Guide' is the sort of thing I am looking for.

Have a look at this one:

Nigel Calder
Boatowner's Mechanical & Electrical Manual
Adlard Coles Nautical

I have the second edition (1996) ISBN 0-71364291-2. I think there may be a more recent edition.

It gives an excellent general introduction to most mechanical & electrical items found on yachts, and is probably the most popular text on the subject.

Thanks all for your advice.

I have placed a order for Nigel Calder's book (still release 2). This will give me more than just a pure electrical book as there is a raft of other jobs I need to do on my boat.

Ordered from Amazon.co.uk as they have a sale on at the moment (30% off) which brought the book down into late christmas present territory.
