I used that method on my slightly smaller Orkney-style boat and slightly shorter beach landing. I had a wheel-barrow wheel mounted to the drawbar.
It's a bugger if it goes in a bit further than you planned.

This pic had a smaller wheel before I fitted the wheelbarrow one.
