I've just got back from the boat jumble at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on Anglesey. Fifteen minutes before it opened there were 50 or so cars queueing up to get stuck in the mud going in. I found a place off the road, pulled on my wellies and walked. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think they can increase their traction on mud by increasing the revs. Needless to say the biggest ruts are made by the 4 x 4s.

Bargain I most regret missing: 5 litre International Micron Extra (almost full) - £15.

Bargain I am most pleased with: substantial octohedral "raincatcher" radar reflector (as a back-up for the Sea me) complete with moulded plastic corner protectors - £3.

Bargain that threatens to be the biggest white elephant: a 12 m x 2 m roll of grey fine-hessian-weave polyester - £3.

The best bits, as usual, were in the genuine jumble stalls, including one "manned" by the feisty widow of a yachty that had clearly been a keen hoarder of "useful" bits. As I handed over my fiver for a bag-full of cord and odds and sods, she remarked "Oh, well, out of one garage into another." She knows how to hit the guilt button.

Now where can I hide that roll of cloth before SWMBO gets back from her tennis match?

I bought a home made windvane self steering at Beaulie one year. Spent a year trying to make it work on our boat then sold it on again at Cardiff Jumble. Probably had half a dozen owners by now or gathering dust in a garage... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep, saw the mud.
Went down there last night to "Book in" thought I might take a boot load of stuff that's been hanging about for a bit.
Saw the state of the place and thought"Mm".
Spoke to the Organiser.
"Oh it'l be alwright, just waiting for the Farmer to arrive and bring some straw to stick in the Gateway!"
Pity though, to have such conditions for a Once a Year Event.
Been that kind of Year though!

Bought loads of good cheap stuff off the "widow". And there were other bargains I got from other stalls as well. One of the regular traders that normally buys all the decent stuff before the boat jumble opens, I thing they got stooed by the floods. That probably accounts for there being some stuff worth for a change.
I took one look at the state of the field (for parking) and decided not to go in there. Parked on a side road instead.
