We finally submitted the insurance claim for the fire aboard Santana last August by post on 5th July. We had notified GJW Direct (Groves, John & Westrup Ltd) of the incident, but the first they saw of the invoices was a few days ago.
It wasn't a large claim (four figures, but starting with a one), and we did much to mitigate the cost. None-the-less, it did include lifting out the engine to clean up from the dry powder extinguisher.
Email just received - the claim, less our £250 excess, has been transferred to our bank account. No questions or quibbles, no insistence in this instance on comparative quotes. Our first claim, and we have been with GJW for a few years now, but none-the-less I am very impressed and pleased. Just thought I'd share that with the forum in case anyone is looking for a decent insurer in the near future.
