Boat Insurance

Welcome Amanda.

Not a good idea to put your email contact on here. Can be picked up by crawlers and you end up with spam. You can delete post.

There is an email facility on the forum by using the PM function.

When you re-post you may want to give more information on your query because you are unlikely to get anything but more questions based on what you have asked!

What do you mean?

Are you asking whether having no qualifications affects your insurance?

They certainly help to reduce the premium, but I believe experienced brokers can be quite sympathetic to very experienced skippers who have no paper qualifications.

I have just found out that if you have an ICC or some qualification it can reduce your premium, so well worth doing a powerboat course, to get a licence, different insurers offer different discounts

May be worth reading your small print, there are some insureres that will actually endorse your policy, if you do not have any qualifications?

In 2006 I insured with 30 years experience but no qualifications - £980, no endorsements

In 2007, I insured with 30 years experience but no qualifications and 1 years No Claims Bonus - £980, no endorsements

My renewal has just arrived - 30 years experience, Yachtmaster, 2 years No Claims - you guessed it - £980, no endorsements /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not funny really

Think you need to change insurers. I have my Bavaria 37 in Corfu. Value £70k (optimistic!) Similar profile except longer record of insurance. £408. Bishop, Skinner

Dont upset her:

"Boatability was started by a group of ex Special Forces personnel. Highly trained by the navy in high and low speed boat handling "
