boat insurance - unknown age of boat

Hello everyone,

I have a 16ft fishing boat and require insurance, my trouble is, I do not know when the boat was manufactured, it was produced by Marina Boats Ltd, Warwickshire and I believe it to be a 16GT.

Does anybody have any experience of insuring a boat of unkown age, I would be satisfied with 3rd party.

Or, does anybody know how I could either date my boat, or know when these boats were first produced so I know a maximum age?

On my first boat I simply put the year we though followed by approx and they seemed quite happy.

There are, or have been, three boat builders in south warwickshire. They come and go, several have exhibited at S'ton Boat Show. Their employees moved round among them, so they will know who did what when.

The only active one that I know of at present is Warwick Boats, http://www.warwickboats.co.uk/ but they are on answer phone until March some time. However someone there might be able to help you when they are answering.

Likewise Stratford upon Avon marina http://www.avon-boating.co.uk/ may well know something, particularly their former owner John Macartney-Filgate (if I remember rightly) if he is still there.

The Basic Boat Company don't need any boat details at all.
