Having duly paid my premiums for over 30 years without claiming,I am miffed to find my Insurance Company ignoring my letters and EMail notifying them of sale of boat and a request for premium refund!!

Telephone always and get name to which responsibility can be attached and confirm conversation via e-mail with that person afterwards with reasonable time limit for closure of dealings. Thereafter seek out company directors if not happy.

There are trade bodies that can help or be referred to if leverage is required to get your refund. Work the web, get some names, phone your insurer and mention that "if not satisfactorily settled in 14 days, with sadness and regret after 30 years, you must refer to the XYZ insurance federation to invoke their intervention. Bettter to avoid that, don't you think" Something along these lines...

Otherwise, and my personal preference, get in touch with the Trading Standards Office in which the insurer operates, and seek guidance. They will probably tell you to evidence the issue to them. When phoning your insurer (always the best starting point) mention the TSO as your next step..

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

A telephone call was far more effective than letter or EMail in order for my Insurance Company to act. A refund has already been placed into my Bank Account. Problem solved. Thanks for replies.
