boat insurance best cover

whats the best insurance company out there or, possible ones to avoid

Is there any that cover motors machinery equipment etc.

My current insurance cover is for

accidental loss or damage to boat
theft of gear equipment
towing boat behind car
damage to underwater machinery

salvage costs
sighting costs of stranding
and a few other things


Just that someone i was talking to one of his engines failed while at sea and the insurance company replaced it and it wasnt a new boat.

My engine failed due to a very strange and unusual reason last year.
Less my excess, I got a new short block through their policy under the "latent fault" clause of the policy.

I was very pleased with them, their surveyor and the way they handled the claim.
The premium is competitive, maybe not the very cheapest, but fine.

What you do get is Shelley answering the phone, Shelley sending out your documents and Shelley answering the phone the following week. Not some call centre in Mumbai that is also selling mobile phones and loan repayment insurance at other times.
You also have an excellent on the road rep who works with us brokers (boat brokers not insurance brokers). His name is Dean Shaw and he will have no problem speaking with you directly so please PM me and I will give you his mobile number.

I do genuinely use them for my own policy and genuinely find them excellent to work with, but if you were to take out cover with them, mention my name (Tom Bettle) and I will get a bung to the value of a few beers and a packet of crisps.

Go on call them take out the policy, then we can all go to Tom's for a party, he'll have the beer and some crisps and if he goes fishing the day before maybe even some fish and chips!

The bung may just about cover fish and chips for both of us, but not everyone on here I can assure you!
