Hi I have a 8 meter motor boat I am looking to buy a Horn, is it better to get the trumpet type or other, as long as it sounds ok. Are there an recommendations.
Thanks

Can't recommend anything but I have bad luck with horns for the boat. They work for a few months at best then give up the ghost.

I found a trumpet type horn in the locker, no joy, opened it up and loads of WD40 later it was working a treat - nothing else is as loud.

How loud do you want it? The compressed-air-pressure-pack-can type (like the Force 4 one linked to above) works quite well in my view. Carry a spare can, that's all. You're probably not going to want to use it very much anyway.

Edited to add; I sail in Australia, not in fog-bound Europe....

Air horns with compressor are best as there is nothing to go wrong on the outside of the boat as the compressor is mounted inside. I got a very once stainless steel one from Ebay for just over £20.
