I tend to get a lot of reed building up on Hanser's mooring -takes ages to shift with the puny extendable boat hook. I've looked around for a good strong boat hook and found not a lot.
Eventually, I made one myself - 30 mm dowel, 'deep sea' gaffe hook( ebay) and a bit of ss welding courtesy of my son. Total cost about £15. The gaffe hook has a 22inch shank that can unscrew from the pole fitting that makes stowing easier. Oh and I ground down the point!

want a good strong boat hook ? well i got one of those nice long poles the teacher used to open and shut the windows with when i was at school, not saying what year that was though !!!
