I read that an English boat owner bought an Eberspacher heating unit in Holland at much less than the UK price. Does anyone have a Dutch chandlery email or website address for such a purchase?

I live in Holland but bought my Eberspacher in UK. I have never found an equivalent for the complete yacht kits that were sold by Cruisermart, but then again those may not exist any more. Programmers and other parts are different in UK and in Europe. At the time I bought mine, it was cheaper to buy in UK than Holland if comparing all the equipment, i.e not just the basic heater kit for trucks. A large Dutch chandler is http://www.eberca.nl/html/eberspacher.html

If you would consider a second hand unit they generally come up regularly> I bought mine this year as an ex British Telecom van unit, looking at the condition and exhuast it had hardly been used. £200.00

Extra fittings including ducting, exhaust, vents and jubilee clips cost another £140.00, these were genuine eberspasher and I may have been able to do better. But for £340.00 I have heating which would have cost over £1000.00 new. Just a thought.

Have you got a contact for Eberspacher bits at the prices you quote. An agent quoted me about £300 for what you listed plus another £140 for modifying the unit for a boat - ie getting rid of the temparatire sensor in the air intake.

I have fitted it in 'recirculation mode' , use a mild steel flexible exhaust and have made the exhaust outlet - seeing your prices I shouldn't have bothered.

I still need some ducting and an outlet

I bought the bits I required, I do not have the bill to hand but guesses, which were

I think 5m but it could have been 4m of 50mm ducting. £13.00 per m if I got 5m
A 12in piece of 60mm ducting to fit to the front of the heater they gave me this
A balanced Y piece 60mm to two 50mm outlets £26.00
Two outlet ducts directional but not shut off about £6.00 each they throw these away practically as they are not used on the wagons.
1m of 20mm flexible exhuast (this is not insulated as the marine version) £35.00ish

I did not buy the £120.00 eberspacher skin fitting, I have temporarily used a 2in bronze skin fitting packed with wire wool and sealed each end with gungum, the fitting stays cool so no heat is transmitted to the hull. I will have it brazed in summer when it is warm enough to clamber outside the hull in the dinghy.

ah ok, sorry, I bought the heater privately, I just used the TCL to purchase the bits I needed to fit the heater to the boat. The guy I bought the heater from has a boat in Hull marina, he had bought a job lot to get himself one and was selling off the rest. I have PM the guys email to you.

If he has any left please PM anyone else who might be interested, he was very helpful and will probably tell you exactly where he got his origionals from.

I bought my Eberspacher off Ebay (www.ebay.co.uk), they have had about 20 in the last couple of months and seem to go for 2-300/ each. The unit i bought was ex BT and in excellent condition, it is replacing a U/S Remotron LPG unit fitted in my Princess 32. i intend to fit a Vetus diesel permanent tank to supply it. I have recently bought the 25mm flexible exhaust house from Whitehouse flexible tubing (http://www.flexible-tubing.com)

A previous owner had taken the unit apart, i believe that the control unit has failed although i could not test it, however all of the internal wiring was missing or not connected and the swedish manufacturers had no documentation. No one (i could find) services or repairs them any longer. Do you know anything about these heaters. The motor works, the spark plug ang gas switch work, the flame sensor appears to work. If you would like to buy it for spares/repair let me know
