Does anyone have any experience of small solid fuel heaters - for a 28ft yacht. I'm thinking for a bulkhead mounted heater and this seems to be the only alternative to a Taylors diesel heater. Any thoughts?

We looked at this for CELENA (identical boat) and in the end went the Eberspacher route. Problem with bulkhead heaters is that all the heat leaks our the dorades before it gets to your feet. (I know this does not answer your question but might help)

I can recommend the "Faversham" made and sold by Colin Frake, Standard Quay, Faversham, Kent. It is a small, floor mounted, narrow, vertical stove, fire brick lined (very important!) with a 3" flue. About right for a 28 footer. CELENA is right in saying that you want to get the stove as low down as you can.

If you really have no floor space adjacent to a bulkhead then try looking for a Pascal Atkey Pansy charcoal stove (dimensions about like a Taylors heater) but I reckon you can contrive a few inches of floor space.

An alternative charcoal burner is the Bengco stove. Often advertised in the classifieds in PBO. Have been thinking about this one for my Centaur, as there is little or no floor space!
