I need to replace my existing Vitrifrigo 12v compressor fridge and due to the restricted location size need a new one of about 39 litre max.

Current prices on the web I have found are all well over £450+ for a 12v, Typical Vitrifigo C39 £489, Waeco CRO40 £499 plus maybe another £56 for a Waeco MPS 35 adapter/converter to also switch when mains voltage is detected as I do not want to use gas.

Considering I can buy a Rolls Royce fridge for the house way less than that price can anyone suggest a good online dealer with more sensible prices.

Standard Waeco kit a bit cheaper at force 4 http://www.force4.co.uk/5807/Waeco-CU55---VD01-Cooling-Kit.html
Still need to buy a rectifier to run it off 240 volts. They are all more expensive than a domestic fridge due to the Danfoss compressor most of them use which is pricey to buy on its own as it can run at a range of voltages. The pricing seems counter intuitive but I guess they sell way more domestic 240 volt compressors than 12 volt ones so economies of scale start to be a factor :(

Oops, just noticed you need the whole fridge! The prices you have found seem to be the going rate ....... unfortunately!

You don't say why you need to replace your existing fridge, but if the cabinet is OK, why not just replace the compressor? It's just a standard Danfoss unit.

Sorry I do need to replace the complete unit for a number of reasons, apart from price size is the main problem and most fridges above 40 Litre will not fit.

The existing size is 380W X 525H X 310 Deep, the existing fridge fits as the compressor is mounted 200 mm off the bottom so the overall length of 550mm fits into the shape of the hull as it gets higher.

I have looked at Engel but they do not do one near the size I need and I do not want a portable unit.

The Waeco CRO40 and Vetrifrigo 39i are the only ones I have found that will fit to date but I am open to other reliable makes.

Hi Mike. Sorry it dosen't fit. I have a 39 litre and a 80 litre (both fridge/freezers off 12 or 240V). I gutted the old fridge space and the 39 just fitted, the 80 is free standing (except on a long haul it is cool storage not even at fridge temperature) - I understand your issue. Andrew
