Does anyone know about, or saw the boat fire outside Haslar on Monday?
We heard it on VHF and could see the smoke from Osbourne bay.
Apparently 3 crew & a dog rescued.

Yep - was just coming into Haslar when it followed us into Portsmouth Harbour.

Not sure what model it was (covered in smoke) but started serious smoking right in the entrance - presumably engine fire?

Anyway the IOW ferry which was following in directed hoses onto the boat once the crew were lifted off to an accompanying yacht. Ferry 'nudged' it away from the small craft moorings between Haslar/Campers in what can only be described as a very professional bit of seamanship with a very large boat in restricted water. Apparently the Gosport Fire Brigade took over the Gosport ferry to provide further hose support and eventually subdued it. Boat was then towed off up to a MOD site. I suspect its a right-off - hope they were insured.

Worrying footnote - Solent Coastguard seemed to have receptio troubles once the boats were in Partsmouth Harbour - I wonder if anyone else has observed the same problem?

Interesting article: first time I've come across a fire brigade that has managed NOT to sink the boat as well!!!!
