Sad sight, well known Thames boat Hedda burst into flames at Hobbs yard on Sunday

Owner escaped with burns to his leg.
 
That's terrible!.....poor sod /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
He was probably insured, but I think that for most of us, it doesn't really compensate does it? I think we all put a lot of ourselves into our boats, I know for me, I would be grieving.

Does that sound a bit trite? I hope not, wasn't meant that way.
 
Yipes thats scary, glad he got out.

However with BSS in mind I wonder if the incidence of boat fires has reduced at all since it was introduced, I don't remember that many boats going up before but we've had two this year so far.
 
I believe that as the owner was on his way to hospital his wife was going in the opposite direction to have a baby but have not yet heard how they both are.
