Boat - An investigation has begun, as to why an eleven metre boat caught fire and sank this morning, just off the Lérins Islands near Cannes. The two occupants were rescued by another nearby boat.

Saw it . About 11-15 am .

Big plumb of acrid black smoke E about 2 miles away , finale was white steam as it sank .
Lasted about 40 mins start to fin .
Plenty of “ helpers “ and 28 degree sea temp so guess all souls saved .
Do hope it was not an explosion injuring anybody?
Wonder if there’s any lessons ?

Perhaps an IPS boat that just self combusted, they do that don’t they?

Very sad. A reminder that boating has its risks. I expect the dog knocked over the bbq
