Weather report on BBC1 just now said wind direction is such that ash might start coming down on the UK tomorrow

The bit about 'blotting the sunlight for several years', from 100 years back is sobering. It is things like this, when a volcano chucks umpty millions of tons of crap an gas into the air, that makes me doubt somehow that using a car with 10% less pollution is at all relavent to anything.

actually, I disagree with the Beeb. Don't think the wind will blow much ash this way if charts for next 24 hours are anywhere near accurate

Dont know what a 'heavier than air' machine does when it flies into gas, but I do know that if gas escapes under a boat it will sink like a stone. QM2 or a rowing boat. Bermuda Triangle or what? Dave.
