I may buy a new boat. To offset running costs I may charter the boat. Any advice or good/bad experiences please. Thanking all in anticipation.

Think carefully.

The main charter season is july and august, it will normally be bareboat, there's not much if any check of qualifications, the responisibilitiy of the agent is to make the sale, not police the drivuing, and their "customers" are the ones who pay, not the never ending stream of people who think they'll make money. If you have a new boat, chartering is a quick way of making it secondhand. I'm not a fan, but I know some who are, and it seems best sense for those with a crew, a non-brand-new boat, and who aren't the picky types that notice scuff marks, missing fenders, nor easily be able to tell if the boat has been cleaned/bashed recently.
