Seeing that many boat owners are using both boats and motor/caravans now would it not make sense to combine the two?
Having one show would give people ideas from both prospectives. Crossover business from either side I feel would make it attractive to all parties.

I seem to remember there used to be one at the NEC?

Yes it's not a new idea, as you say there has been a boat, caravan and camping show at the NEC for the last 10 years at least.
I think it was only last year they stopped it for some reason - too many boat shows or something making it not cost effective enough

The boat section was pretty low key, not many exhibitors. Last time we were there we saw Jimmy Green and C&J Marine but few others. They didn't seem to be doing much business.

I believe it stopped because there was a change of Exhibitors' Organiser and the Caravanners and Motohome Associations fell out! The Motorhomers went to Excel, but the Caravveners have I believe stayed at the NE C but hiring less space. The Boatshow part also included holiday destinations, canoeing and caravan parks as well as narrow boats. I always thought it was a good day out, but not a boat show.

Back together again, without the boats. http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/news-a...e=emailCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=

One reason could have been that not many boat owners knew about it!!! Ironic??

It was primarily d focused on inland waterways craft and it was well known in those circles. At one time it was a "must go" show for canal boaters but the boating content had been on the decline for years

The one time I really enjoyed EXCEL was the year that it was combined with THE OUTDOOR SHOW and the CYCLING SHOW. However there doesn't seem to be any particular logic to the shows they combine (or maybe they DO now realise that combining similar interests is not ideal for revenues:(). Agree a combined boat/caravan/motorhome event with the balance right could be very popular.

Nooooo ! Please don't suggest this !
Caravans parts and equipment are twice the mark up of yacht products !
They sell this really expensive special toilet paper that breaks down in water easily... we can buy the same stuff from the 50p shop.
