Boat broken down - what do i do?

Yes - I think you're right its 50mil - I just had a photo to go by, but have since looked at the engine manual and it says 50 outlet to exhaust.

Fingers crossed that PaulGooch is correct and new exhaust pipes and water lock does the trick. I really want to visit before Wednesday to see how much damage there is!

Sorry end - I hope!

Well PaulGooch was correct - many thanks.

A new Vetus waterlock NLP-50 has been ordered. Ebay £152 bill to son! The exhaust hoses look pretty good - just sooty. They look high temperature marine variety with a green stripe.

I just hope the engine hasn't got too upset - there wasn't much water left in the radiator/heat exchanger circuit.

I did cheat a bit, coming in at the end :)

Looking at how the waterlock has melted, i'm still not sure i'd trust the hoses, particularly the one from the manifold to the waterlock.

If he engine to water trap is as short as it looks then change it whilst you are at it if nothing else it will be hard to seal as it will be brittle.

Engine woes

We are having engine woes ourselves.. (see thread on flooding an engine if you are minded) ... I am hoping for you thT the help folks have given sorts things out... Please post when all ins well?

All sorted!

Many thanks to all who have helped.
The new waterlock and exhaust pipes are in.

No water in oil, and no oil in water so head gasket probably ok - haven't floored it yet but idled for ten minutes. Didn't seem to drink the coolant so I think I can go sailing and relax!

(Son is taking more lessons before his next solo expedition)
