So what’s the score ,
once you filled in their return form online and emailed to them with a 2 hour time frame of arriving then what ?
do you sit and wait for now every long it takes for them to contrack you ?
call them and ask what to do next ?
moor up and go home ?
it doesn’t seem clear or at less not to me what one is supposed to do .

I’ve not found them very effective. Made 4 trips this year and duly completed the spreadsheet.None have ever been acknowledged. Penultimate time I came back I called Yachtline, who asked if I had rxd an acknowledgement and after being told I hadn’t, they gave me the local customs number to call. I did this and they simply asked if I was British. On my latest trip I haven’t bothered calling them and just emailed the spreadsheet before returning. Pretty rubbish when you think the French seem to have put a very simple & user friendly system in place (for example in Cherbourg).

Ring them, they will clear you and off you go. I find posting the forms very convenient.
Unless you have something to declare or someone needs clearing you don't need to call .
Plus is there anyone to talk to at 5am .
Last year when I called
yacht line the guy had no idea what to do with us.

Sounds like good news.

The night shift have no idea, they never did. Probably covering a number of desks. You have to finesse the conversation in this case.
The day shift will reel off a a load of stuff from a sheet and you will be free to go, should you call them.

On line form now so no spreadsheet required. See post 5. Who also get an email acknowledgement.
I found it confusing to start with but you do a form for your trip leaving the UK and then another for your return. The system also stores the passport details so only need to add once.

If you use the new online report then it says that if the answer to the set of questions is fine, no need to contact them by phone and the email acknowledgement I had said that border force would contact me if needed. So I just arrived where I said I would at the time I said, within the 2 hour window and put the kettle on...heard nothing!

Ah, ok. I used the portal last summer when it has just been launched and to be fair it was pretty simple and intuitive. It wasn’t working earlier this year so I reverted to emailing spreadsheets. Good to know it’s back up and running, I thought it had been withdrawn for some reason. Thanks
