BMW or Mercruiser?

I have a BMW D190 or I think so,
It has BMW on it and is around 180 to 190hp but have recently been told it is more
a Mercruiser than a BMW due to the fact they were in partnership regarding this engine..Do anybody know anything about this..all I know is that I bought it with the boat and it looks around the 1980s style, straight six and are having problems fixing a Bravo3 outdrive to it...the ID Plate is off it...So what is it?

Yes they were in partnership with Mercruiser or at least I think mercruiser bought over BMW marine. I had a boat a long time ago with the 130hp straight 4 It was nothing like a mercruiser, it was a marinised version of the old 2 litre petrol engine in the 2002 series bmw car. I suspect the 6 cylinder will be similar. I got rid of it about 12 years ago and spares were very expensive and hard to come by then. So I would imagine they will be like hens teeth now.
