Hi all just wondering if I could get sum tips on a new diesel as the ol BMtroubleU D7 has finally blown its ring!
Everyone in oz I have spoken too has bagged this lovelly little donk But really its the parts not its heart that gets the bad name. ok I need a replacement diesel between 60kg and maybe 90kg,90kg if i can remove 30kg of unwanted goods.
so far Im looking at the Bukh (sea water cooled) not good. The Beta which is 90kg and large build. and the Yanmar igm10 which looks good but yet again large build prepered to the good ol BMtroubleU!
Any thoughts on this topic would be very helpful......

I've had Yanmar 2GM and Beta (10hp in one boat and 28hp in current boat). The Beta's have been quieter in my experience but parts and service in the UK are not as freely available as the Yanmar's. Also all Beta's need RH props and I recall my Yanmar had a LH prop but I might be mistaken.

Hi, I don't know if you've come across it but there's a BMW user group on Yahoo (bmwmarineengines@yahoogroups.com)
who might either be able to help or provide a home for the parts when you take your old one out.

I replaced a D7 with a Beta 10 and am very pleased with the outcome. I've had to sacrifice a little space as the new engine is a little bigger but the performance and reliability more than make up for that. I really don't miss having to hand crank the D7 when it became reluctant to start on the starter.

Only downside is that I can no longer claim to have a Jaguar with a BMW engine!
