BMC Fuel Injector Pipes

I have an old BMC 1.8 diesel engine in my boat which still gives excellent service and generally performs well.

I noticed that there was a small diesel leak (slow drip) from the hex nut where the injector pipe feeds in to the top of the fuel injector. On closer inspection it seems that there is a crack in the pipe, probably caused by vibration over time.

Calls to a couple of dealers suggest that pipes are not available off the shelf any longer and I am loathe to source from scrap dealers as I may well end up replacing cracked pipes with....cracked pipes.

Does anyone know of a source for BMC spares or a fabricator in NW England that would make some up.

Any information or advice gratefully received.

Many thanks Scottie & Burgundyben.

I just took a quick look at ASAP website and they appear to have exactly what I need "off the shelf" for BMC 1.8 at very reasonable cost - I shall certainly save the web address to favourites for future reference.

Try your local LDV (Leyland Daf Vehicles) dealer - who I believe is Thomas Hardy Commercials in Stockport and Middlewich. LDV dealerships still have some spares for the old Freight Rover van that was fitted with the BMC 1.8 engine.

When you contact ASAP Supplies they will ask you for your engine number, so make a note from the block before you give them a call. On my engines (Leyland Sealord) the number is located at the rear of the block on the right hand side, (If you are straddling the gear box !!) But they are very helpful and their catalogue is a veritable 'Aladdin's Cave' of kit.

Thanks again guys.

I've been down at the boat this weekend and removed the pipes and on closer comparison with those pictured on the ASAP website I think I'm in business. I'm sat here typing aways with some sort of modern art sculpture of injector pipes sat on the desk in front of me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mal, I did note down the engine no. also because I thought that may come in handy - needed a good wire brush because the plate had been painted over and it was one of those "standing on your head, with a torch in your teeth" jobs that we all love so much.

I will try a couple of the local LDV parts stockist locally for the sake of expediency and if they cant help I will order from ASAP.
