BM-1 behaving strangely?

We have a BM-1, which has performed without fault for 16 years.
Earlier I noticed that when I press the ‘ILLUM’ button the charge shown rapidly increases to 76A - see photo 1. The engine wasn’t running and shore power disconnected & solar panels in shade, so no significant charge was happening.
As soon as the light went out the charge corrected itself- see photo 2.

Any ideas what the problem is and why it suddenly happened?

Check/clean/ remake all the BM wiring connections ... Esp the black wire

Check/clean the fuse contacts too. Some people have fitted an in line blade fuse instead of the original cartridge fuse to overcome anomalies caused by bad contacts, although i don't really understand why the fuse would cause problems

I cleaned the connections to the shunt as suggested and all is now fine- thanks for the advice.
