Hi folks,

I am seeking advice on how to correctly install my BM-1, I have read all the other threads but am still a little confused regarding my setup.

Please see my wiring diagram of my boats electrical system. I believe that the shunt should go between the starter battery and domestic 1 on the negative side. Do i need to move the connections from the solar panel and battery charger to correctly monitor their input? if so where to?

Many thanks

I feel that as a new poster you should not be left unanswered. However, I, for one, have a problem in that clicking on the thumbnail does not give me a proper image.

Hello and welcome.

The shunt should go on battery 1. You should also move the negative of the mains charger to battery 1 and make sure it passes through the shunt before reaching the battery

The negative of the solar panel needs to be able to pass through the shunt and then on to batt 1.

you dont show the feeds to your domestic circuits. The negative must be from the point shown. The posive is presumably from the domestic battery positive via an isolator or from the selector switch

* = no other connections ... it means no other connections to the domestic battery negative or that end of the shunt. Just the white and black wires for the BM1

The drawing above explains it well. The easiest way to get your mind around it, is to think of the shunt as an extension of the negative battery terminal - connect one end to the domestic battery neg(s) and then put all domestic negs on the outside of the shunt.

Thank you all.
Vic, yes the domestic negative is as you have put it and the positive feed runs from the selector switch.

Cheers

+1

I have one cable from the domestic battery negative to the shunt. All the other wires that used to be connected to the negative are connected to the other end of the shunt. Simples??
