Hi, I'm new here, been lurking a bit and decided to ask a question. Anyway, I'm getting the liveaboard bug. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So, are Bluewater yachts well made like Hatteras, Vikings, Bertrem etc?

It will be just me and my Dad (80), and my cat. He just lost his wife (Mom) to Alzhiemers and I lost my wife and two sons in a tornado a few years back. I figure it's time for a vacation Big time. Actually for the remainder of Dads life, I want it to be pleasant for him. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Any info on a good coastal cruiser would be great.

Thanks

Hi there and welcome to the forum,

If they are the ones I saw in Florida then, yes they are reasonably well built, not in the same way as say a Hatteras which is designed for offshore cruising and even ocean passages. Bluewater build more for livaboard inland / lake use with occasional coastal trips in fine weather. They have a very shallow draft and quite flat bottomed so if you venture out in any kind of chop they will slam and bounce about a bit.

For what they are designed for - excellent, you get a huge amount of space for the size, think of a motorhome on water rather than say a big tough 4X4 and you get the picture.

Best of luck.
