Refering to Rosa's post on 5th Feb about the MCA's new Blue Book, we signed up for one on the first Saturday of the LBS. We were told we were the 4th to do so and were given an envelope to return the A4 plastic document that replaced the (old) Blue Book. We were also told that the new documentation would be in a form to fit this new Blue Book.

The MCA were 6 weeks returning the documentation and when it was returned it turned out to be the same A4 document but not plastic encapsulated. Thinking there was a mistake we phoned to enquire only to be informed that it had to be folded to fit. That meant folding it twice which meant it could no longer be read without removing it from it's pocked in the Blue Book.

£25.00 is a lot of money to pay for a plastic wallet - all be it Blue - containing nothing more than a few empty plastic wallets, one of which presumably has to have the folded and squeezed registration cert. By the way, the replacement Doc stated it's date of issue was only a few weeks ago instead of the date it was actually issued several years ago, and not in any way reflecting, as has been noted by others, the actual date of issue of Part 1 registry which in our case is over 70 years ago! Definately an MCA scam.

Nostalgia ain\'t what it used to be

Sounds pretty tacky. Would have expected a bit better for £25.

Thanks for the warning - I thought it meant that my old blue book would return to use. I'll stick with my plastic.

Interested to hear your experience-it confirms my suspicions. Definately a rip-off. I'll keep my twenty-five pounds and spend it on something useful.
What's nautical and cheap?
